Don’t miss postnatal check-ups
Regular check-ups after childbirth are very important. A mother should not miss even one of these check-ups. During these check-ups, the doctor will closely monitor your weight changes, blood sugar and blood pressure, healing of stitches, etc.
Breastfeeding is not only important for the baby, but also for the mother. Breastfeeding lowers the risk of Type 2 diabetes, breast cancer and ovarian cancer in mothers. Also, it helps in strengthening the mother-child bonding, as well as providing vital nutrients to the baby.
Follow proper diet and exercise
Follow a nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins like fish, beef and soy proteins, leafy green, slim milk or low fat milk. Stay away from refined carbs, white breads, and sugary foods that will just end up spiking your blood sugar.
Take enough rest
Rest is necessary for new mothers in order to regain their strength. The best thing you can do is adapt to your baby’s sleep cycle. You can also seek external help to take care of your baby, while you are sleeping. You can also sleep near your baby to make feeding easier.
